NOBEL PEACE PRIZE LAUREATE

SHIRIN EBADI

SHIRIN EBADI: UNTIL WE ARE FREE

The first Muslim woman to ever receive the Nobel Peace Prize, Shirin Ebadi has inspired millions around the globe through her work as a human rights lawyer defending women and children against a brutal regime in Iran.

“Until We Are Free”, tells Ebadi's story of courage and defiance in the face of a government out to destroy her, her family, and her mission: to bring justice to the people and the country she loves.tells of the struggle of one woman against the system.

Despite finding herself living under circumstances reminiscent of a spy novel, nothing could keep Ebadi from speaking out and standing up for human dignity. The Iranian government would end up taking everything from Shirin Ebadi, including her marriage, her home, her legal career, and even her Nobel Prize. The one thing it could never steal was her spirit to fight for justice and a better future for women. This is the amazing, at times harrowing, and simply astonishing story of a woman who would never give up, no matter the risks.  This film premiered September 2020 at the Venice Film Festival in Italy.

LIMBO STILL OF CLIENT ON BED.webp

SOCIAL IMPACT FILM

LIMBO

LIMBO poster.jpg

ABOUT

"This is a film of compassion and tender observation of lives we rarely see – it’s in the performance of the routine tasks made by one person for another that we start to grapple with meaning, dignity and what it is to be human." Ken Loach

Limbo is a true-fiction short following the story of Witold, a young, Polish Londoner who takes a new job as a caregiver. Through raw storytelling and a close lens, the film reveals the acute loneliness of those most vulnerable to the pandemic, and its devastating real-time implications. Laying bare the hardship of the job of a carer at this poignant time, the story is the narrative debut of writer and Emmy-nominated director Lotje Sodderland (My Beautiful Broken Brain, Netflix), herself once a recipient of vital care. This film uses a hybrid approach, combining documentary and scripted, to create a raw, impactful and original film. The elderly men are not actors, rather they are vulnerable men who receive care at home. Unbeknownst to cast and crew, the first cases of COVID-19 were recorded as filming commenced.
